So… I’ve conquered the fear created by all the scaremongering that surrounds starting your own business, now it’s on to the next step. Unfortunately for me, the path hasn’t been as clear as I would have hoped, and beginner mistakes are putting severe dents in my already feeble financial structure.

So how can I apply what I have learnt so far? How can I begin to utilise the building blocks I have acquired to shape my economic character?

For far too long, I have looked at the concept of “business” from an abstract perspective, to the extent where I have often defined an “entrepreneur” as a person who possesses extra ordinary talents apart from courage, strong will and guidance.

But one thing I have learnt over the years is the important power of hindsight. I once heard someone say “No matter how far a jackass travels, he will never return a horse”, likewise if you don’t practice self analysis, examine the events that took place along your journey, and reflect on the outcome of decisions you have made, then you would have remained in ignorance by not exercising your hindsight.

I have learnt that to not harness your skills of hindsight, you will not possess any insight, and inevitably not be able to develop and exercise foresight. For a prediction to possess any logical hope of accuracy, it must be based on prior information that is analysed and applied to present situations in order to determine future outcomes.
